"My experience with acupuncture has been a very positive one. After many years of struggling with insomnia and realizing through counseling, that it was a huge issue in the severe depression that I was seeking help with and finding no solution that worked without taking pills to sleep every night, I spoke with my counselor and my chiropractor about the possible benefits of acupuncture. They both told me it was often a good alternative natural treatment for many problems without the need for pills (that, in many cases can cause long-term problems with our bodies). So I decided, nothing ventured nothing gained, and I had been referred by a friend at work to Dr. Chen. The first time I saw him we discussed the issues I was dealing with and Dr. Chen told me it may take quite a while to see results because of the very long-term insomnia that I had been experiencing, but that some people’s bodies are very susceptible to the benefits of acupuncture and mine apparently was one of them. I was prepared for months of treatments, but after only five treatments I was able to go home, go to bed and fall soundly asleep and even dream for the first time in 10 to 15 years and sleep all night long WITHOUT waking up. I was totally thrilled. Not being able to relax the muscles in my neck and shoulders after having permanent damage to my neck from being rear ended in a car in three different accidents was also relieved. Due to the tight neck and shoulder muscles, my chiropractic adjustments had not been totally successful for months until my treatments with acupuncture."
"Dr. Chen is a wonderful man and has helped me tremendously and I’m thankful for doctors like him for having the abilities to help us improve the quality of our lives as he has improved mine."
"I have had chronic back pain for almost twenty years, which culminated in back surgery in 2001. The first two years following the surgery were uneventful; but eventually, the pain started coming back and each year brought increasingly more pain and an increased frequency and dosage of pain medication. I eventually came to the point where I was taking pain medication every six hours, just to be able to perform my daily tasks. I wanted to be less chemically dependent and improve my quality of life, so I spoke with my primary physician about acupuncture, and he encouraged me to try it.
A co-worker had been to see Dr. Chen and raved about how great he was, so I decided to make an appointment.
I must say that the first two weeks were uncomfortable, not because of the treatment itself, but what happened afterwards. I scheduled my appointments during my lunch and then I would go back to work. I work on a computer all day and after sitting for about an hour I had an intense feeling of burning in my buttocks. It was the strangest sensation. In fact, I started sitting on a pillow, as my vinyl-covered chair was just too hot to sit in. This symptom, lasting approximately 2 – 3 hours, appeared after each treatment for the first two weeks. Dr. Chen encouraged me to continue my treatments and by the third week the symptom had disappeared.
It was during the third week of treatment that I realized that I had more energy, less pain and I was sleeping better. Due to the back pain, I had been an incorrigible insomniac. It was during this week that I started to decrease the frequency of pain medication from every 6 hours to every 8 hours and, in some instances, I was able to stretch the time between pain medications to 12 hours.
Dr. Chen is helping me to achieve my dream of living my life with decreased pain and decreased dependency on pain medication. My treatments are now once a week and I call it my weekly tune-up. If I miss a week, I feel it! In fact, there are a few other issues I would like to speak with Dr. Chen about in the future, but I am taking one step at a time.
I would also like to mention Amy, Dr. Chen’s office assistant. She is an absolute delight and so sweet. I look forward to seeing her each week."
"Between the ages of 18 and 28, I broke my foot three times and it never healed correctly and I developed a bone spur. I asked an orthopedic doctor and he never answered my questions fully. So, I went to seek answers through Sun Acupuncture as I had been there before (for a different problem). Only Dr. Sun was retired and practice as now run by Dr. Chen. I was nervous about a new doctor. After only three treatments with Dr. Chen I was pain free. Now I don't even go to my regular doctor, because I know that Dr. Chen can help me. I can't say enough about how wonderful he is at what he does. Dr. Chen has helped my neighbor, my husband and myself. We are both so happy with the results we have had with our treatments, I would recommend Dr. Chen to anyone who has any kind of problem. He, in my opinion, is a miracle worker. I hope he NEVER retires!!"
"For years I have struggled with a carpal tunnel type syndrome in my hands that flares up every year or so, self-induced by too much typing. I can keep it at bay, but there are times when I overdo it and the pain builds. The amazing thing about acupuncture is that in my situation, I can merely visit Dr. Chen on an as needed basis (one to two appointments) to rectify the problem versus western medicine protocol that encourages me to consider surgery. With acupuncture, as soon as I start feeling twinges of carpal pain, I make an appointment with Dr. Chen, and I'm good for another year! I can't say enough about how good the treatment outcomes are that I have experienced over the past 8 years."
